Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion in Muan, Korea

Previously, PHILOS supplied MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) membranes to Muan’s municipal wastewater treatment plant in Korea. Over time, however, population growth and rising wastewater volumes created capacity shortages that challenged the plant’s ability to keep pace with demand.

To resolve this, in 2025, PHILOS delivered and installed additional Megaflux-MBR modules, seamlessly expanding the facility’s treatment capacity.  Consistently high flux was achieved while ensuring operational efficiency and minimal disruption. This project reinforced Muan’s water management infrastructure, improved reliability, and supported the region’s sustainable growth.

Project Description

-      Additional Treatment Capacity: 2,200 tons/day

-      Membrane: PHILOS MF reinforced hollow fiber membrane

-      Filtration process: MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) + MF (Microfiltration)

-      Location: Muan, South Korea
