Wondering which MBR brand to choose? Here are five strong arguments to consider PHILOS Megaflux MBR

MBR is rapidly gaining popularity in the wastewater treatment industry due to the rise of enclosed spaces, tougher wastewater disposal policies, and lower membrane prices around the world. MBR has revolutionized the way we handle wastewater, offering several benefits over conventional activated sludge treatment systems, such as a smaller footprint, higher-quality effluents, lower sludge demand, and lower construction costs. As a result, MBR is without a doubt one of the most popular options for meeting today's stringent wastewater effluent quality.

Choosing MBR over the activated sludge process is no longer a tough decision nowadays, but picking the right MBR brand has definitely become more challenging over the past years. With the increase of membrane manufacturers around the world, engineers, consultants, and end-users are finding it more difficult to choose suitable and reliable MBR products on the market. Therefore, in order to ease the MBR hunt for the users, here are five arguments on why you should consider using PHILOS’s Megaflux MBR for your wastewater treatment needs.

  • Breakage-free membranes: Membrane fiber breakage is one of the most common issues with MBR when handling wastewater in harsh operating conditions. Membrane breakage is a result of operating wastewater in high pollutant concentrations, high flux, and strong air cleaning, and weak membranes do not stand a chance in such conditions. However, customers who use PHILOS MBR modules, on the other hand, do not have to worry about this issue because our highly tensile membrane takes care of it. Our proprietary PVDF RCM (Reinforced Capillary Membrane) is perfectly able to withstand any harsh conditions such as high-tactness and heavy air washing, with a tensile strength of 4050 kgf/fiber (40-50 times stronger than hollow fiber membrane).

  • Leakage-free and constant permeate flux: Leakage in MBR modules can cause plenty of disadvantages when detected. It not only questions the overall efficiency of MBR modules but also the entire wastewater treatment process as the leaked turbidity may hinder the treated water quality. Likewise, the reduced water flux and short membrane life caused by such leakage can bring a significant price hike for the operational and maintenance cost. Thus keeping this in mind, with PHILOS Megaflux MBR, we have addressed this issue by employing strong adhesive technology between individual membranes and extrusion, which helps to prevent permeate leakage.

Additionally, when PHILOS RCM MF membranes were controlled and compared to other competing membranes in a constant flow, PHILOS RCM MF membranes displayed the highest flux stability, which directly correlates to the membrane's excellent efficiency. Since suction and pause are repeated in an MBR procedure, raising the pressure indicates that the membrane is contaminated. As a result, the constant pressure at constant flow is thought to be very efficient which makes the membrane optimized for the MBR process.

  • Reduced Membrane Sludging and Fouling: In addition to the aforementioned problems, membrane sludging and fouling is by far one of the most significant and problematic issues in MBR wastewater treatment. Since high sludge concentrations and unavoidable membrane fouling affect membrane life, water flux, and, finally, water treatment efficiency, several studies have been conducted to address this problem. However, with PHILOS' Megaflux MBR, we've attempted to come up with a number of novel designs to avoid sludging and fouling issues while also extending membrane life. Customers will benefit from lower operating costs with PHILOS Megaflux MBR. Some of the arguments to support this point are as follows: 1) To help prevent membrane fouling, our MBR has built-in air nozzles at the bottom of each membrane section. By preventing blockage and fouling, the frame air diffuser is often used as an antifouling system. 2) As seen in the example below, our MBR uses patented aeration ball technology to help prevent sludge accumulation in the membrane. This technology also helps to avoid the development of transmembrane pressure, which happens when a membrane is used for a prolonged period of time. As a result, our MBR modules are designed to counter membrane sludging and fouling in general.

  • Outstanding Expandability and Flexibility: PHILOS provides its customers with a versatile element size range in addition to high-quality membrane fibers and creative designs. We all know that due to space limitations, determining the right MBR combination for pre-configured and existing treatment sites can be challenging. PHILOS caters to this need by offering three standard MBR sizes. Since a range of cassette frames are available with PHILOS MBR, the user has more options for onsite MBR setup. Furthermore, with our block-type structure, users can easily substitute pre-installed MBR from other brands with PHILOS MBR with little to no additional construction (Customized product). Overall our PHILOS Megaflux MBR holds excellent expandability and flexibility for the onsite operation making the user experience to work with MBR very convenient.

  • Credibility and Service: Last but not the least, with decades of experience in membrane processing and manufacturing for the filtration and water industries, PHILOS has gained a lot of confidence, trust, and ideas for the membrane business. Hence, our customers are pleased not only with our innovative design and high-quality membrane modules but also with our seamless customer service, timely response, competitive pricing, free expert advice, and trustworthiness. So, when a customer buys a PHILOS Megaflux MBR, they are not only getting a high-quality product but they are also getting a trusted and reliable vendor to work with for long-term cooperation.
